Art Club began as a response to the challenges of the traditional art market, which often involves high costs, intermediaries, and social barriers that can limit access to art.
Artbox founders sought to create a model to make art more accessible to a larger audience and reduce the reliance on galleries and exhibitions. The challenge was to develop a sustainable platform to directly support artists while growing a community of art lovers who appreciate diverse, high-quality works. Art Club adopted a subscription-based model to connect artists and art enthusiasts in a more direct and accessible manner.
A new artist is commissioned each month to create limited editions and original artworks, ranging from drawings and prints to photographs and mixed media. These artworks are then mailed to subscribers, accompanied by a letter from the artist.
Since its inception in 2015, Artbox Art Club has commissioned over 100 artists and sent over 10,000 artworks to subscribers across Australia. Art Club is a platform for artists - allowing artists to gain exposure and receive direct financial support. Operating as a not-for-profit, all subscription revenue is reinvested in the artists and their materials.
